Do Americans ever learn from past mistakes?

Dude I'm sorry but you don't know what you're on about. The MLS is being run great and all it needs is time to develop. All the big European leagues are successful because of foreign money. We can't dig ourselves into debt on this side of the pond, look what happened to the NASL. The MLS is on the right path, all it needs is time. Soon the European leagues will be looking at financial fair play and start using the system the MLS is using. Just you wait.
