How to remove foreign object from ignition cylinder?

Today I removed my keys went into the house and returned to find out that my key woul'nt fit inside the ignition cylinder. I dont know if anything got stuck inside. I tried to fiddle around but it only made matters worse when a piece of the safety pin got stuck there. Now Im trying to remove the entire cylinder and clear it out..Any advice ?
